"Its a real win for India and winning Golden Globe, Rahman has proved the world that Indians can compete globally," Yogita Garyalia, a medical student said.
Echoing similar sentiment, said Dev Patel, owner of Bollywood DVD store here, said the Slumdog team should now prepare for the Oscars.
Neel Riazada, an IT professional believes that the Rahman's win has put Bollywood in a new global film race and hopes more awards including Oscar to be added for the Bollywood cinema in the coming years.
Rahman became the first Indian to win this prestigious Golden Globe Award for for Best Original Music Score.
Mumbai-based drama "Slumdog Millionaire" also won Golden Globes for best motion picture-drama, best director motion picture award for Danny Boyle and best screenplay motion picture for Simon Beaufoy
