The pair chose to indulge in the passionate act after a hasty glance at the city's growing skyline.
They were spied upon by a Sunday Age photographer as they engaged in their 120-metre-high embrace in the slowly revolving giant wheel.
The Southern Star's chairman Fred Maybury took the incident with a pinch of salt.
"I suppose it had to happen," the Sydney Morning Herald quoted him as saying.
He, however, added: "There are definitely no plans to stop couples from enjoying flights together at this stage."
