The strike had affected the common man the most, with prices of everyday necessities like vegetables, etc shooting though the roof.
Earlier on Monday, the negotiations between striking truckers and the government had deadlocked with both sides refusing to budge from their stated positions.
While members of the All India Motor Transport Congress insisted on the release of their leaders and other demands, including cuts in diesel prices and a single national permit, the government was steadfast on the condition that the truckers should call off their strike
